DAWSON CREEK -- Dawson Creek RCMP arrested a man after a hit and run on Sunday afternoon.

Mounties say a woman was driving her vehicle on 92nd Avenue when she was side-swiped by a Jeep Cherokee.

Police said the Jeep then tried to flee the scene but the woman followed the vehicle.

According to police, the driver of the Jeep dumped the vehicle in a front yard and two males fled on foot in opposite directions.

The passenger in the Jeep ran into an alleyway. Police officers located the suspect and arrested him. The male driver managed to get away.

Police say the passenger in the Jeep is the registered owner of the vehicle. He is facing an undisclosed amount of fines under the Motor Vehicle Act.
