DAWSON CREEK -- Starting December 31, those living in B.C. became eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster shot.

That eligibility came with confusion for some people.

For those living in the Peace Region, Northern Health is clearing up some of that confusion.

Anyone aged 18 and over, who have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine are eligible to receive a booster dose.

However, you will not be invited to receive a booster dose until 6 months after your 2nd dose.

“The key is those invites are coming about 6 months after the date of your second dose, it won't be everyone at once but there is a significant amount of the population who are going to recieve invites if they haven't already, ” says Eryn Collins, Northern Health.

Those living in Dawson Creek who have received an invitation, can either walk-in or book an appointment at Dawson Creek Health Unit.

Walk-ins are also available at participating pharmacies.

As of right now, those living in Fort St. John can walk-in to the Health Unit or participating pharmacies.

However, the Fort St. John Health Unit does not allow for bookings at this time.

Some people have been having trouble booking their booster dose online, but Collins says the health units will be making more days available for booster doses, as more people receive an invitation.
