FORT NELSON -- Northern Health is advising residents that emergency department services at the Fort Nelson General Hospital are currently unavailable.
The ER will be on diversion beginning at 4:00 p.m. August 22nd, 2024, and will remain so until Friday August 23rd at 7:00 a.m.
“Any time services are interrupted, our partners in patient transfer and local health services are notified and signage will be in place at the hospital informing patients to call 9-1-1 for transport,” said Northern Health in a social media post advising of the diversion.
According to the Health Authority, the hospital is having challenges with nursing coverage, but notes the timing of interruption may be ‘subject to change.’
“People in Fort Nelson and area who need life-threatening emergency care should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility,” said Northern Health in a statement.
