FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -- A popular business in Fort St. John is running out of time.

The North Peace Family Super Park is struggling because a lack of donations and grants. The business is now in danger of shutting down. Rent and building costs are beginning to add up. With only one paid staff member and a lack of volunteers, the super park is in need of strong community support to continue providing a fun and safe space for children.

Bea Barter, Executive Director of the business, says the lack of funds and financial backing is starting to become more apparent.

"Everyone who comes here has become like family. I know we've recently had to let go of one of our staff members due to lack of funding to be able to pay and it broke my heart."

$15,000 is needed to continue operating the park without issue. The Park releasing this donation letter in an attempt to find new donors and sponsors.

“The North Peace Family SuperPark is a non-profit indoor play facility. We are run by our community for our community. We provide a safe and warm place for families to come during our long and harsh northern winters. We even have an outdoor playground in addition to our indoor playground for the summer months! Our community relies on our facility to provide somewhere for our children to run and play all year round. We all know how fundamental physical play is to children but the superpark provides more than that. The social connections made here from child to child, child to caretaker, parent to parent and grandparent to grandchild are vital.

We rely on our daily guests to cover our day to day bills and staff wages but our overhead bills such as rent are largely covered by our grants and donations. Donations and grants keep our doors open. Since the pandemic started we have watched facilities and other non-profits close their doors forever for the same reason that risks us closing our doors, Lack of grants and donations.

We are asking for donations, Sponsorships, and to think of us next time you plan a fundraiser or when booking your staff parties! As a thank you we are also offering Free Play & Admissions to families of companies who “sponsor a month” in 2022. We cherish each and every company who over the years has kept us in mind and supported us. A walk around the park and you can see those Names & Logos on our walls!”
