FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John City Council and the Board of the North Peace Cultural Society discussed the future of the North Peace Cultural Centre in a closed door meeting Monday.

A joint statement from Mayor Lori Ackerman and Board Chair Connie Surerus was released Monday evening.

“The City and the Society have agreed to a 90-day cooling-off period. Following this cooling-off period, the City and Society have agreed to meet, using a neutral third party, to further discuss the future of the North Peace Cultural Centre and mutually agreed-upon outcomes.

During this time period and any subsequent transitional periods, all facility user bookings and rentals will be honoured. We look forward to working together to further the arts and cultural fabric of our community.”

As a term of this cooling-off period, no further statements will be provided.
