FORT ST. JOHN, BC -- The North Peace Community Foundation is receiving $500,000 in funding.

The funds come from PETRONAS Energy Canada Ltd., which is creating the PETRONAS Sustainable Communities Fund in partnership with the foundation.

The money will be distributed over five years to support charities and non-profits in the North Peace Region.

PETRONAS has previously supported several North Peace charities, including the FSJ Hospital Foundation, United Way of Northern BC, and by funding nursing awards through Northern Lights College.

Lori Ackerman, Mayor of Fort St. John and Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, says the money will “result in elevating the social, environmental, and leadership capital within our region for years to come.”
