TAYLOR, B.C. - Peace Island Park will once again play host to the World Invitational Gold Panning Championships this weekend, with organizers promising three days of family-friendly activities, competition and entertainment.
The annual event runs from July 31 to August 2 at Peace Island Park in Taylor and features the World Invitational Gold Panning Championships, where competitors of all ages will test their gold panning skills.
According to event organizers, this year’s championships will include a variety of activities and attractions beyond the competition itself.
Visitors can take part in gold panning, metal detecting and claim staking demonstrations, while also browsing a vendor market and enjoying wagon rides.
The event also highlights a community parade, food and craft vendors, bannock baking, campfire jams and gold panning demonstrations as part of the weekend lineup.
The championships are designed to appeal to all ages, with several hands-on activities available throughout the event.
New additions for children this year include inflatable bouncy castles and face painting, giving families even more reasons to attend.
Organizers are also encouraging community groups, businesses, families and individuals to take part in the parade, saying more participants are needed to help keep the long-running tradition alive.
