One person has pled guilty to manslaughter in connection to a homicide in Fort St. John last summer

According to the BC Province Court in Fort St. John, Katlin Cota was one of three people charged after an assault turned fatal on June 24th, 2025.

Cota pled guilty to one charge of manslaughter. It happened in the parking lot of the Fort St. John Alliance Church, in the 99-hundred block of 99 Avenue.

When police arrived, they found an unresponsive victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Online court records show Ethan Dore and Dylon Cazes have also been charged in relation to the homicide.

At the time, investigators said they believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

A presentence report with a psychiatric component was ordered by the court. Cota is due back in court on February 20th for a sentencing hearing.
