A wildfire that broke out near Groundbirch is now being held, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.
The fire was discovered on Sunday in the Willow Valley area near 267 Road.
According to the Wildfire Service, it grew to roughly two hectares in size before crews were able to get a handle on it.
Based on current conditions on the ground and the weather forecast, the Wildfire Service said it expects the fire to remain within its existing perimeter.
The blaze is suspected to be human-caused. The Wildfire Service said the specific cause of the fire however remains under investigation.
The fire near Groundbirch is one of four wildfires currently burning in Northeast B.C.
Among them is one out-of-control fire located about 70 kilometres southwest of Fort Nelson. It is has grown to one hectare and thought to be caused by a lightning strike.
The B.C. Wildfire Service continues to monitor conditions across the region as crews respond to ongoing fire activity.
