Wildfire burning out of control 11 kilometres southeast of Halfway River First Nation

A wildfire has broken out 11 kilometres southwest of the Halfway River First Nation.

The wildfire was discovered on Wednesday and has grown to 5 hectares in size. It’s burning out of control. but so far there is no word on a cause.

The BC Wildfire Service said a crew of firefighters are on the ground assisted by helicopters in the air.

46 wildfires are currently burning across Northeast BC, most of which are in the Fort Nelson Fire Zone.

The largest of the fires is the Etcho Creek Wildfire. The holdover fire has grown to 13,000 hectares is burning 67 kilometres northwest of Fort Nelson.
