Well known suspect from Dawson Creek back behind bars facing new weapon’s charges

A Dawson Creek man well known to police, is back behind bars. Ben Touchette is facing six new weapons related offences.

Touchette was arrested by Dawson Creek RCMP on Saturday. However, at this point it is not clear about the events that led to Touchette being charged this weekend.

Among the charges Touchette is facing, are failing to comply with a condition of a release order not to possess a firearm and failure to comply with a condition of a release order not to possess ammunition.

In September of 2024, Mounties said they seized 4 illegal firearms, over 20 other weapons and more than 300 rounds of ammunition.

Police told CJDC TV News at the time that more than 200 grams of suspected fentanyl and cocaine were also seized from a home in Pouce Coupe. Mounties said that Touchette was later arrested without incident.

In April of 2024, Touchette was wanted by police for failing to appear for a court date. while facing a previous charge of possessing ammunition while prohibited.

Touchette had a bail hearing late Monday afternoon and remains in police custody. His next scheduled bail hearing is November 14th.
