There was an increased police presence at this year’s Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede, as a result of a weapon threat.

Dawson Creek RCMP said a teenager threatened to bring a gun to the fairgrounds on Wednesday.

The teen was located and questioned by the RCMP in Grande Prairie. Investigators said the youth claimed that he was trying to act tough and impress a girl, however no charges were laid.

Police also said there were more fights than usual at this year’s stampede, but no one was seriously injured.
