The Peace River Regional District has provided an update on an open fire prohibition reported Tuesday.
At the time, the PRRD said in a release that a fire prohibition applied to the Regional District . Officials now say that was incorrect, and there is no fire ban in effect across the Peace Region.
The BC Wildfire Service ban applies to the Prince George and Stuart Nechako Forest Districts.
The ban also includes a small portion of the PRRD within Kakwa Provincial Park near its southern boundary, which caused confusion.

As of Wednesday, there are no Category 2 or Category 3 open burning prohibitions in effect in the Peace Region.
The PRRD is apologizing for any confusion caused by the earlier information.
Officials are also reminding residents to use caution with open burning, following several out-of-control burn pile incidents over the past two weeks.
The district says some of those incidents threatened properties and required responses from local fire departments and the BC Wildfire Service.
“We join the Prince George Fire Centre in urging residents to use caution with open burning during this high-risk period between snowmelt and green-up,” officials said.
