The Child Development Centres (CDC) in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John have received a combined total of just over $239,000 from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.

The ministry is allocating funding for capital projects through Community Gaming Grants.

The Child Development Centre Society of Fort St. John and District has received $194,500.

The funding will go toward renovating the facility to support a respite and skills program for youth with significant support needs.

The project includes the creation of a fully accessible commercial‑grade kitchen, a flexible open‑concept activity hub, and a dedicated sensory room. The renovation also includes new soundproofed offices and upgrades to the outdoor space.

The ministry has also provided a smaller grant of almost $45,000 to the South Peace Child Development Society.

The funding will be used to repair three major sections of the building’s roof to help prevent leaks and reduce program interruptions.

“We are investing in community organizations that make a real difference in people’s lives,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.

More than $5.1 million was granted by the ministry to non-profit organizations across the province this year.
