Two Northern Health emergency rooms on diversion over the weekend

Two emergency rooms across the Northern Health region interrupted services over the weekend.

Northern Health announced on social media interruptions at the Chetwynd Hospital and at the Fort Nelson Hospital.

The emergency department at the Chetwynd Hospital was shutdown in the middle of the day on Saturday.

Services resumed at 8 am on Sunday after Northern Health said it found additional coverage.

As for the Fort Nelson Hospital, the announcement was made at 8 pm on Saturday night.

The emergency room was closed overnight and reopened at 7 am the next day.

According to Northern Health, both closures were due to staffing challenges.
