The Peace River Regional District has issued new Evacuation Orders #4 and #5 for the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire.
On Friday evening, the PRRD said the Order is due to immediate danger to life safety and rescinds Evacuation Alert #4, issued on June 3.
Kiskatinaw River Wildfire Order #4:
- Approximately 10 km South of the junction with One Island Lake Rd and Hwy 52 East
- Approximately 13.5 km due West to the Western side of One Island Lake Rd
- In a Northeasterly direction following the North Side of One Island Lake Rd
- To the junction of Weaver Rd
- In a Westerly direction 3.3 km to an intersection of Hwy 52 East
- In an Easterly direction 5 km to the BC border
- South following the BC border for 9.5 km
- West 5 km to a point of intersection with Hwy 52 East
Kiskatinaw River Wildfire Evacution Order #5
- 12.75 km South of Kelly Lake Rd turnoff on Hwy 52 East
- 14 km East to the BC Border
- 13.5 km South along the BC Border
- In a Southwesterly direction 16.5 km to Hwy 52 East
- Northerly following the Western boundary of Hwy 52 East 14 km
- From said point in a Westerly direction 5.7 km
On Friday evening an emergency alert was issued by the County of Grande Prairie about an expanded Evacuation Order.
County of Grande Prairie Order:
- North of township road 700 to 740
- East of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 130.
Grande Praire Evacuation Alert:
- East along Township Road 710, from Range Road 130 to 124
- North along British Columbia/Alberta border to Township Road 750 until Highway 43.
The City of Dawson Creek said its website, the Evacuee Reception Centre will be closed Saturday, to process hotel renewals for evacuees. Repeated calls to the city have not been returned.
The reception centre will reopen on Sunday at City Hall, from 10am to 2pm. The Dawson Creek ESS Team will be on site to assist with food, lodging and supply renewals for Kelly Lake and One Island Lake evacuees.
