Chetwynd RCMP have confirmed that an investigation has been opened looking into the deaths of two dogs.

Two dogs were found shot to death and left at the side of the road, near the halfway point between Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.

Pictures were posted to social media of the deceased animals, along with pools of blood, on Highway 29 South.

One of the pictures appears to show shotgun casings laying on ground. At this point, Chetwynd RCMP could not confirm if they were shell casings or not.

Chetwynd RCMP received a report on Sunday after the dogs were spotted by people passing-by the scene. Police say the dogs may have been left there for days.

Mounties are continuing their investigation. Anyone with any information on this case is being asked to contact the Chetwynd RCMP detachment at 250-788-9221.
