Tumbler Ridge to Host FIFA World Cup 2026 Community Celebration

TUMBLER RIDGE — Tumbler Ridge will be part of nationwide FIFA World Cup festivities this summer, as the community is set to host a Canada Celebrates event on June 15, 2026.

The one-day celebration will bring World Cup excitement to the Peace Region through live match watch parties, entertainment and soccer-themed interactive experiences.

Organizers say the event is designed to foster connection, resilience and inclusivity, with programming guided by local voices to reflect community needs.

Mayor Darryl Krakowka says the celebration comes at an important time for the Peace Region community.

“Over the past few months, our community has continued to support one another, and this event will provide an opportunity for people to gather, spend time together and enjoy a positive experience close to home. We’re grateful to the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada for recognizing Tumbler Ridge and helping bring this special event to our community,” said Krakowka.

Organizers say the event is also expected to support local businesses, encourage visitation to the region and highlight the strength and character of Tumbler Ridge.

The events are free, family-friendly celebrations featuring cultural programming, music, food and shared moments of national pride.

The Province of British Columbia is contributing $25,000 toward the event through the 2026 Community Event Support Fund, with an additional $25,000 provided by the federal government.

The Province will also offset any additional planning and operational supports required by the district.

The funding is intended to help municipalities, regional districts and First Nations host free public events connected to the FIFA World Cup.

“At its core, Canada Celebrates is a fan experience, recognizing that supporters and communities are essential to the FIFA World Cup. We want every community stop to be a welcoming space, where people can gather, celebrate and connect through football. We look forward to bringing this experience to Tumbler Ridge,” said Victor Montagliani, Vice-President, FIFA Council.

Adam van Koeverden, Canada’s Secretary of State, says the initiative highlights the unifying power of sport for communities like those in Northeast B.C.

Six other communities in British Columbia will also host Canada Celebrates events during the World Cup tournament period.

The Canada Celebrates tour will stop in 38 locations across 34 communities nationwide during the FIFA World Cup tournament period, running from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
