TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. – Hockey fans in Tumbler Ridge and the surrounding area are being encouraged to purchase their tickets early for two upcoming Western Hockey League preseason exhibition games.
The Prince George Cougars and Edmonton Oil Kings are set to take on each other at the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre Arena, offering local hockey fans a rare opportunity to watch WHL action close to home.
Tickets are currently on sale and organizers are hoping for strong community support to help make the event a success. Tickets are available for $20 each and can be purchased at the Community Centre.
The first game is scheduled for Friday, September 4, with puck drop at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
The second game will be held on Sunday, September 6, beginning at noon, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m.
Organizers say the event will give residents the chance to experience high-level junior hockey without leaving the community.
Tickets are cash-only, with all seating on a general admission basis. Children aged two and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. A maximum of 10 tickets per game can be purchased at one time.
To ensure local residents have an opportunity to attend, tickets are currently available through in-person purchases only. Organizers say an online sale option could be considered later if tickets remain available.
Officials are encouraging hockey fans to buy tickets soon before they sell out.
