Residents of Tumbler Ridge now have expanded access to emergency care and mental health services.
The Tumbler Ridge Health Centre is now providing urgent and emergency care seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The change took effect on Monday and includes weekends and statutory holidays.
Mental health supports are also available daily during those hours.
The expanded schedule marks another step in Northern Health’s efforts to restore services in the community following previous reductions tied to physician staffing shortages.
Emergency department hours were gradually increased as recruitment efforts improved staffing stability.
Residents seeking care between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as on weekends and holidays, are asked to use the side entrance and ring the bell for access.
For life-threatening emergencies between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m., residents should continue to call 9-1-1.
