Preliminary results for the by-election in Tumbler Ridge have been released and the race has ended in a two-way tie.
Don McPherson and Keith Bertrand finished in a tie for first place with 108 votes each. With no clear winner, the votes will be recounted.
David Thompon finished in third place with 79 votes while Natasha Dougherty finished fourth with 30 votes.
Election officials with the District of Tumbler Ridge will recount the ballots on Tuesday. If the two candidates are still tied, the results with then proceed to a judicial recount.
If the election is still tied after a judicial recount, then the names of the two councillors will be drawn to decide a winner.
The by-election was held after former Councilor Ken Klikach resigned on January 20th.
