FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Former Peace River North MLA Jordan Kealy is scheduled to stand trial in B.C. Supreme Court beginning November 15, 2027, on a sexual assault charge.
Kealy elected to be tried before a judge and jury. His trial is expected to last five days.
The charge was announced earlier this year, prompting significant political fallout for Kealy.
At the time, then-premier David Eby publicly called on Kealy to resign his seat, saying elected officials facing such serious criminal allegations should step aside while the matter worked its way through the courts.
Kealy was first elected as the MLA for Peace River North in 2024.
He left the BC Conservative fold and launched an independent campaign in the 2026 snap election.
Kealy was defeated easily by BC Conservative candidate Curtis Whitford, who won 85.5 per cent of the vote.
The sexual assault allegation against him has not been proven in court.
