TOMSLAKE, B.C. - Residents of Tomslake and the surrounding area are being invited to share their thoughts on emergency preparedness and future risk management during a community event this weekend.

The Peace River Regional District’s Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Analysis (HRVA) project team will be taking part in the annual open house and barbecue.

The event is being hosted by the Tomslake & District Volunteer Fire Department and takes place this Saturday.

Organizers say the event will give residents an opportunity to learn about the project’s results and provide feedback on how the region should address its highest-priority risks.

The event will be held at the Tomslake Fire Hall, located at 15407 Tomslake Dr., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Along with meeting local firefighters and enjoying food and family activities, attendees will be able to discuss emergency planning and community resilience with the HRVA project team.

Organizers are looking for public input to help shape future risk management planning across the Peace Region.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to identify hazards, assess vulnerabilities and improve preparedness for emergencies that could affect local communities.

Residents who are unable to attend in person can still provide feedback through the project’s online survey.

The survey is intended to gather community perspectives on regional risks and emergency preparedness priorities.
