RCMP say that charges have been laid in connection with a murder in Dawson Creek in 2023.
On Saturday Tanner Allan Murray, Robert James Sinclair and Benjamin James Elliott Touchette were arrested without incident as they were already in custody for unrelated matters.
The BC Prosecution Service has approved one count of first-degree murder against each of the suspects in relation to Girbav’s homicide:
Investigators believe the accused and the victim were known to each other.

“This has been a complex investigation led by NDMCU and charge approval reflects the collective work of many teams, including Dawson Creek RCMP, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), the Major Crime Interview Team, and Forensic Identification Services,” he added,“ said Supt. Sanjaya Wijayakoon, with the BC RCMP Major Crime Unit.
On December 31st,2023, Mounties responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 17th Street and 116th Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, they found a red Dodge Calibre and Girbav’s body.
RCMP North District Major Crime Unit took over the murder investigation and asked for the public’s help in identifying a pickup truck that maybe linked to Grbav’s murder.
Police said a red Dodge Calibre was accompanied by a red Dodge Ram 1500 pickup with gold trim along the lower portion of the pickup.

“We want to assure our community that we remain committed and dedicated to advancing our investigations into incidents that are impacting the Peace Region,” said Supt. Sanjaya Wijayakoon, with the BC RCMP Major Crime Unit.
Sources have alleged that Grbav’s death has been linked to the on-going gang turf war that’s gripped the Peace Region since May of 2021.
“We acknowledge that the loss of Mr. Girbav was felt widely and contributed to ongoing community concerns regarding crime and violence in the Dawson Creek Area,” said Supt. Wijayakoon.
