FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Three Fort St. John-area non-profit organizations have been selected as nominees for the upcoming 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John event in September.
This year’s nominated organizations are the Nenan Dane Zaa Deh Zona Family Services Society, the Stage North Theatre Society, and the Fort St. John & District Palliative Care Society.
Representatives from each group will deliver presentations during the event, outlining their work and how a community donation would support their organizations.
Attendees who purchase a ticket will cast a vote at the end of the presentations, with the organization receiving the most votes taking home the full collective donation.
Organizers say that when 100 or more women participate, more than $10,000 can be raised for a single local charity in one evening.
“We’re honoured to showcase three organizations that are making a meaningful difference in our community. While only one charity will receive the collective donation that evening, every nominee gains valuable exposure and the opportunity to connect with new supporters,” the steering committee said in a statement.
The event is scheduled for September 29 at the Lido Theatre in Fort St. John. It begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to enjoy refreshments, connect with other members and participate in door prize draws before the presentations begin.
Tickets for the September 29 event are $100 each and include one vote toward selecting the winning charity.
“Every event reminds us what is possible when women come together with a shared purpose,” added the steering committee.
Since launching in 2017, 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John has hosted 12 giving events and raised a total of $199,965 for local organizations. The September gathering will mark the group’s 13th event.
