Fort Nelson First Nation says an incident involving threats made against the Chief and Council prompted a ‘secure and hold’ order at a number of community facilities on Thursday.
The First Nation said that threats were made toward members of the leadership team. That led officials to temporarily restrict access to some buildings and Chalo School.
Police were called in to investigate the threats. The First Nation says the situation has since been addressed and that appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the safety and security of community members, employees, and students.
“At this time, there is no further action required, and it is safe to resume normal activities,” said the First Nation.
No details about the nature of the threats or whether any arrests were made have been provided.
