A new fundraiser aimed at supporting indigenous and local youth is coming to Northeast BC.

So far, the Hope Truck initiative has raised more than $96,000 for youth programs in Saulteau First Nations, West Moberly First Nations, as well as in Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.

The Hope Truck itself is a 793-haul truck, painted bright orange, and has become a symbol of meaningful, action-based reconciliation.

Numerous sponsors have supported the initiative by donating in more than 7,000 loads of coal. Each haul helps fund youth-led program focused on education, wellness, sports, and culture.

This initiative is a partnership between West Moberly Industrial Metalwork Limited Partnership and Conuma Resources Ltd.

“The Hope Truck is a symbol of what’s possible when industry and community come together with purpose. Every haul is a commitment to the next generation and to building something better, together,” said Steve Gillingham, president of West Moberly Industrial Metalwork

The fundraiser began in March and will conclude with a final celebration event at the new Saulteau First Nation Cultural Centre on September 27.

The event will include cultural performances, youth showcases, and sponsor recognition.

Donations, involvement opportunities, and tickets for the final event are available through the Hope Truck Fundraiser website.
