Teen charged in stabbing of taxi driver in Grande Prairie

A teenage boy is accused of stabbing a taxi driver in Grande Prairie in late June.

The driver was stabbed in the stomach at around 2 a.m. on June 28, according to the Grande Prairie RCMP. The driver was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but has since been released.

The 17-year-old from Grande Prairie was arrested on Saturday after a number of search warrants were executed.

The teen has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released on conditions pending his next court appearance in Grande Prairie on July 21.
