Members of the Calgary Fire Department at the scene of a December 7, 2016 fire in the Midfield Mobile Home Park

A housefire on Sunday morning resulted in significant damage to a mobile home in Pouce Coupe.

The Pouce Coupe Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after 9:00 a.m. At the time, temperatures were approximately -25°C, with a wind chill near -35°C, creating challenging conditions for responders.

Upon arrival, crews found the structure to be fully involved in flames. Firefighters from the Tomslake Fire Department were called to assist with the fire.

Pouce Coupe Fire Chief Blair Deveau said the mobile home was completely destroyed in the fire, leaving four people displaced.

Initial access for crews was limited, as the driveway to the residence hadn’t been cleared of snow. A snowplow was required to gain access to the scene.

Sixteen firefighters were at the scene for almost 6.5 hours. Resources included two engines, a tender, command units, and a warming bus supplied by the Tomslake Fire Department.

Emergency Support Services (ESS) was contacted to assist in providing support for the displaced residents.
