A Snow Squall warning has been posted for the South Peace River region and southern portions of the B.C. North Peace River.
The yellow winter storm warning issued by Environment Canada says the North and South Peace River areas will see heavy and blowing snow.
Starting Thursday morning, a brief, intense snowfall is expected to develop. Under the snow squall, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow.
A strong frontal system is set to pass over the region on Thursday morning. This will bring snowsqualls and wind gusts up to 90 km/h, mainly for communities along the Rockies. However, strong gusts are still possible near Dawson Creek. Winds will change to northerly throughout the day, bringing colder air.
Travel may be hazardous and visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Motorists are being told to prepare for the possibility of quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
