The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign is underway, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to local charities.
This year, the owners of the Tim Hortons in Dawson Creek chose the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation as the charity to receive the proceeds.
“It’s one of those initiatives where every single penny stays in the community,” said Brette Madden, president of the foundation.
Madden says the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation will use the money raised to purchased medical equipment and fund special programs within Northern Health facilities in the South Peace.
Smile Cookies are $2 each and can be bought at local Tim Hortons. The initiative began on Monday and runs until Sunday.
Organizers are encouraging residents to support the foundation by purchasing the delicious cookies.

Many events are organized to promote the Smile Cookie Campaign, including the Cookie Eating Challenge, which has grown in popularity over the years.
Dealerships across the city are competing in the challenge, each sending a team of employees who must eat Smile Cookies faster than their opponents.
On Thursday, the semifinals of the challenge were held at Bannister GM Dawson Creek. Defending champion Peace Country Toyota won a close matchup and will face banister Ford in the finals on Friday.
Madden says excitement is always high for the Cookie Eating Challenge. “We are a super competitive city. The battle of the dealerships has kind of turned into its own monster.”
Through other collaborative events and sponsorships, Madden says the goal is to get a cookie in the hands of every kid in town.
