UPDATE: Small wildfire northwest of Fort St. John listed as under control

The Calgary Fire Department is offering warning following two grass fires in the city on Thursday.

The BC Wildfire Service said a half-hectare wildfire was discovered northwest of Fort St. John on Thursday

The service said the fire was discovered Thursday, approximately five kilometres west of Highway 97 in the Charlie Lake area.

The wildfire service noted that the wildfire is now listed as under control and and is not expected to grow outside its current perimeter. It believes the fire was human caused.

As of October 2, the province said there are 102 active wildfires in BC, with only three listed as out of control, including this one.
