DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - Dawson Creek RCMP are asking for the public’s help after a large fight outside a local pub reportedly escalated to a firearm being discharged over the weekend.
According to police, the incident happened just after midnight on September 20 at Rockwell’s Pub in Dawson Creek. Investigators say a brawl involving approximately 25 people broke out at the establishment.
Police allege that during the incident, an individual returned to a pickup truck in the parking lot, retrieved a firearm and fired a shot.
Reports received by RCMP also indicated that someone was seen running behind the pub while carrying a firearm.
Mounties say many witnesses at the scene were mostly uncooperative with investigators. While some people provided limited information about a vehicle that had left the area, police say details have been vague.
One witness reportedly supplied an unconfirmed first name to investigators. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Mounties are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone who witnessed the altercation, or who may have cellphone video of the incident, to contact Dawson Creek RCMP.
