Several sent to hospital after bus carrying oil and gas workers rolled over near Beaverlodge, AB

A bus with 17 passengers rolled over on a highway Wednesday morning, northwest of Grande Prairie.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. on Highway 672, 10 kilometers north of Beaverlodge, Alberta

The passengers were oil and gas workers headed to Grande Prairie. Their departure location is unknown.

It’s not clear why the bus veered off the road. Staff Sergeant Matt Short with the Beaverlodge RCMP said, “for some reason the bus entered one of the ditches and then rolled over onto its side.”

Cpl. Mathew Howell said, “No fatalities have been reported at this time.”

Two of the four patients that suffered life-threatening injuries in the rollover were airlifted to hospital in Grande Prairie.

Howell added that several went to hospital and some were assessed at the scene for minor injuries.

Alcohol, speed and weather are not considered factors. The highway was closed between Range Roads 90 and 92 but has since re-opened.
