The Kiskatinaw River Wildfire burning out of control south of Dawson Creek, has destroyed seven structures in the community of Kelly Lake.
The Dawson Creek RCMP confirmed that the buildings lost are abandoned homes, trailers and outbuildings. Police said that so far, no residents that have been occupied have burned.
An expected cold front arrived on Sunday around 5pm, bringing with it heavy winds that increased fire behaviour.
The BC Wildfire Service said that with the wildfire near the edge of the community, the fire is still spotting into Kelly Lake.
Fire protection specialists remain at the scene and are working around the clock, putting out hotspots in the community and defending individual structures.
A second flank, the southeast side of the fire has now made its way into Alberta. The County of Grande Prairie issued a third Evacuation Order and a third Evacuation Alert on Monday.
The north flank of the fire showed aggressive fire growth into the County of Grande Prairie this week, as the fire has grown to 21,679 hectares.
