Shortly after the morning bell rang at South Peace Secondary School in Dawson Creek Thursday, the institution was placed in a secure and hold.
Officials with School District 59 have confirmed to CJDC-TV that a social media threat prompted the precautionary lockdown.
The measure was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The school administration worked closely with the RCMP to investigate and resolve the matter.
The lockdown was lifted at approximately 10:10 a.m.
