The emergency department at Fort Nelson Hospital has been forced to close due to “unexpected staffing challenges.”
Northern Health said services at the emergency room were interrupted at 4 pm Wednesday and will resume at 7 am Thursday.
It marks the third diversion of the year at the Fort Nelson Hospital, and the second this month. In the first six months of 2024, the hospital had eight diversions.
Health officials said residents of the Fort Nelson area needing life-threatening emergency care should call 911 and will be transported to the nearest available facility.
