Science World is touring elementary schools in Dawson Creek with a new show called “The Science of Sports.”
The tour is part of the On The Road program and includes stops at eight schools in and around the city, as well as the Dawson Creek Mall.
Presenter Chelsey Stuyt said the show is meant to spark curiosity in a joyful way, adding that students have been so excited about both science and sport.
“At the beginning of the show, we always ask: who like sports? Who likes science? Who likes shows? And the kids’ response to all three questions is just overwhelming enthusiasm,” Stuyt said.

The show explores the physics, health, and technology that make sports so powerful.
Stuyt said the team’s biggest goal is to leave each kid with this excitement around the idea of science because it plays a role in every aspect of life.
“Kids learn through play and through fun. The more energy they feel from something, the more they want to learn about it,” she explained.

Ecole Frank Ross Elementary hosted two shows Tuesday morning.
Students had the chance to participate in many fun activities and demonstrations. Principal Shaun Henry said that is an amazing learning opportunity.
“One of the main things that we would hope for at school is that kids experience joy in their learning,” he said. “When we get a cool presentation like the one by Science World, it builds engagement in sports and is very important in their experience at school.”
Henry said a child’s first exposure to sports often happens at school, so having Science World present in the community is very special.
The show also highlights potential career paths in the sports world.
Stuyt said she hopes kids will understand how science and sports work hand in hand, and how that knowledge can help them enjoy sports more.
“Seeing kids’ joy around science is one of the best moments in my day. It makes me feel like I’ve made a difference in a kid’s life,” she said.
