A winter storm continues to batter the Peace Region causing treacherous driving conditions.

The Dawson Creek RCMP have responded to five motor vehicle incidents in a 24-hour period on Wednesday.

Just before 7:30 am, Mounties were called to a collision on the Alaska Highway, near the Harper Subdivision. Police said whiteout conditions caused a pick-up truck to rear-end a semi truck.

The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries while the semi driver was unharmed.

Around the same time Wednesday morning, another pickup truck drove into a ditch after passing a snowplow on the Old Alaska Highway. Police said blowing snow was once again a factor.

The pickup tried to stop at the intersection of Highway 97 but hit a patch of ice. The truck slide across two lanes of traffic on the highway into a ditch.

Dawson Creek RCMP are reminding the public to slow down and drive to winter conditions. Police also advise motorists to leave early for work and make sure to clear vehicle windows of all snow and ice.
