RCMP officers responded to two acts of violence against two separate barbershops in Fort St. John, early Saturday morning.
Mounties received a call about a fire at the Golden Hands Barbershop in the 9,200 block of 100 Street at around 3:30 am Saturday. At almost the same time, they received a second call about damage to The Barbershop FSJ, located a block away, on 93 Avenue.
The owner of Golden Hands Barbershop says he woke up to a call about an alarm at 3:32 AM. He says the barbershop wasn’t just destroyed, he says, “we were violated.” Pictures show the business has a broken front window and fire debris inside the building.
Fort St. John RCMP and the owner both believe the building was deliberately set on fire.
“Someone decided to destroy not just property, but the trust and love we’ve worked so hard to build with our community,” says the owner.
The police say someone also broke the front window of The Barbershop FSJ.
The owner of Golden Hands also says their barbers will continue working at other locations. They will be located at The Barbershop FSJ and The Experts Barbershop.
Mounties are currently looking through CCTV footage for suspects. Police are continuing their arson investigation and are asking anyone with any information of the two incidents to contact the Fort St. John RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
