Mounties says DNA testing has confirmed remains that washed ashore in Washington State nearly 17 years ago are those of a teenager who went missing from Mission, B.C., in 2007. The RCMP logo is seen in Surrey, B.C., on Thursday, March 16, 2023. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck

The RCMP is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Chetwynd.

Information regarding the age or identity of the woman has not been released. However, RCMP say that they were called to the home after Emergency Health Services (EHS) and the Chetwynd Fire Department responded to a call about a person in medical distress.

When police arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the adult woman was deceased. The RCMP E Division is now looking into the case and there is no believed risk to the public.

“No arrests have been made, and no further information is available at this time,” said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson in a news release.

Additional details on the case may be shared as they become available.
