Almost 4 years ago, a body was found on a rural road in Pouce Coupe. Now, the North District Major Crime Unit is asking for the public’s help in the murder of Lance Patterson.

The body of the 55-year-old was discovered on May 9, 2021, near Highway 2 and Clark Road in Pouce Coupe. Despite ongoing investigative efforts, Mounties say the person or persons responsible remain unidentified.

Lance’s sister, Dana Patterson, recently shared a heartfelt plea, urging anyone with information to come forward.

“Questions like who and why haunt us every day, says Dana Patterson. Lance was a son, a father, and my only sibling. No one deserves to die the way Lance did. We know that someone has information about Lance’s murder. Please do the right thing and come forward.”

Investigators are seeking information about Lance’s activities in the days leading up to his death, and any details regarding his distinctive 2003 black Mercury Marauder.

Dash cam footage from Highway 2 near Clark Road, recorded during the late evening hours of May 8 and early morning hours of May 9, 2021, could be critical to advancing the investigation.

“We believe there are individuals who know critical details about Lance’s death, states Sgt. Chad Mereski of the NDMCU. This information, no matter how small it may seem, could be the key to moving this investigation forward. We urge those with knowledge to come forward and help us bring justice for Lance and his family.”

Anyone with information, no matter how minor it may seem, is asked to contact the Dawson’s Creek RCMP at (250) 784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.

Patterson’s death is one of 12 unsolved murders in the Dawson Creek area in the last 3.5 years.
