DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - Peace River Regional District voters have approved three proposed service functions and rejected two others in assent voting held alongside the 2026 local elections

The votes asked residents in four electoral areas whether they supported the creation of new regional district service functions for water systems and community spaces.

Water service functions allow the PRRD to establish, operate and fund water utility systems within a defined service area, while community space service functions allow the regional district to own, operate and maintain community halls or gathering places and fund their ongoing operation through local taxation.

Two of the three water service proposals were approved, while one failed. Voters also split on community space proposals, rejecting the Golata Creek service while approving proposals for Osborn and Jackfish Lake.
