h wildfire season just around the corner, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has released its new Agricultural Emergency Response Plan

The step-by-step plan is designed to help farmers, ranchers, producers, and agri-processors deal with emergencies like wildfires, floods, extreme weather, or disease outbreaks.

The blueprint acts as a guide for the ag sector across the region, covering how to prepare for emergencies, respond while they’re happening, and recover afterward.

It also explains how emergency management works in B.C. and lays out who is responsible for what, including key contacts during a crisis.

Included in the plan is a regional hazard and risk assessment, risk mitigation strategies to reduce damage before emergencies happen and evacuation procedures for livestock and agricultural operations

It also includes communication protocols, so producers know who to contact and a list of resources tailored specifically to agriculture/
