The Peace River Regional District is set to request meetings with several provincial ministries, including the Ministry of Health.

The board wants to discuss key issues, such as youth addiction and mental health.

The decision comes in light of recent tragic events in which the community has lost two youths.

The PRRD reviewed outcomes of the 2025 Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Convention at its latest board meeting.

Board members discussed which topics should be focused on in a meeting with the Minister of Health.

The board decided to focus on a short list of issues and, as one director put it, “really hammer those home.”

Directors voted in favour of focusing on discussing the Maskwa Medical Centre, youth addiction and mental health, barriers for practitioners working in both BC and Alberta, and emergency room closures.
