PRRD approves construction of new administrative building in Dawson Creek

The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has approved the construction of a new administrative building in Dawson Creek.

The PRRD announced the decision during their last board meeting. The new building will be on the lot in downtown Dawson Creek, that was the former site of the Centennial Pool. It is located at the intersection of 10 Street and 105 Avenue.

Board Chair Brad Sperling said, “We have been looking at this for several years. The current building is over 60 years old and really has reached the point, where we need to replace it.”

The PRRD said the project is expected to cost just under $20 million. Sperling said the financing of the project will be minimal as the district put money away years ago and will be relying on grants to help pay for construction.

The PRRD will be borrowing just under $ 6 million for the project. Sperling said he expects it will be paid off in 5 to 7 years.
