DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - Premier David Eby was in Dawson Creek on Monday to tour the city’s new hospital and receive an update on the project’s progress ahead of its anticipated opening next year.
The premier was joined by Mayor Darcy Dober and members of city council for a tour of the new Dawson Creek and District Hospital replacement project. During the visit, Eby received a firsthand look at construction on the facility, which is expected to open in early 2027.

Eby said the facility will bring essential health services to communities throughout the Peace Region.
“It’s set to open next year, bringing essential care to people across the Peace region,” the premier said. “This is more than an expansion. It’s a state-of-the-art facility, over 50 per cent bigger than the current hospital, built to meet the needs of the region for decades to come.”
Northern Health has previously said the project will expand access to acute care services and modernize health-care delivery across Northeast B.C. The health authority says the new hospital is intended to create a modern healing environment while supporting patients, families, physicians and staff.

The Dawson Creek and District Hospital replacement project is one of the largest health-care infrastructure projects currently underway in Northeast B.C.
Construction on the new facility is expected to wrap in September. Hospital staff will then work toward the planned opening early next year.
