With British Columbia’s municipal elections now just three months away, voters in Pouce Coupe are once again expected to choose between two familiar faces.
Current Mayor Danielle Veach and former mayor Lorraine Michetti are both seeking the community’s top job, setting up a rematch of the race that took place four years ago.
As campaigning begins to ramp up, both candidates are highlighting different priorities and visions for the village’s future.
Mayor Veach, who is seeking re-election, says infrastructure remains her primary focus. In comments outlining her platform, Veach pointed to several projects completed during her current term, including lagoon bank stabilization work, repairs to residential water infrastructure, and support for other critical upgrades throughout the community.
“In my time as mayor, council and I have worked hard to make major investments in our water and sewer infrastructure,” Veach said, adding that she hopes to continue building “a stable future for Pouce Coupe,” if re-elected.

Meanwhile, Michetti says she is centering her campaign on “transparency and accountability. Residents should be informed and consulted when major projects are planned in the village. “
Looking back on her previous time in office, Michetti cited the development of the skate park and Pouce Park, as well as efforts to keep taxes low while maintaining municipal services.

In the 2022 municipal election, Veach narrowly defeated Michetti by a margin of 84 votes to 79.
The upcoming vote will give residents an opportunity to compare the records of both candidates, one emphasizing continued infrastructure investment and the other advocating for increased public engagement in municipal decision-making.
Municipal elections across British Columbia are scheduled for October 17th, with residents in Pouce Coupe set to decide who will lead the village through its next four-year term.
As election day approaches, voters can expect to hear more from candidates on issues ranging from infrastructure and finances to community growth and local governance.
