Legion Branch 34 in Pouce Coupe is approaching its 100th anniversary, and to celebrate, it’s hosting a 2000’s-themed night on Saturday.
The theme of fundraising event is “Dancing & Dining through the Decades,” featuring a dinner, live music, and plenty of fun.
The night will also feature Haven, a local band. “I want to offer a fun night out and get people on the dance floor,” said lead singer Mike Bernier.
Doors open at 6 pm, dinner will be served at 7 pm, and music begins at 8:30 pm.
Bernier said people can expect a mix of classic rock and country music.
He said close to 100 people are expected, and tickets are still available for $40 per person.
Bernier and his wife are helping organize the event.
He said supporting the local legion is important because many branches in small communities struggle to stay open. “Every little bit of help counts,” he said.
Bernier added that the Pouce Coupe Legion was one of the first in Canada to receive its charter in 1926, before the village itself was even established.
