Possible human remains discovered near Fort St. John under investigation: RCMP

FORT ST. JOHN, BC - Police are investigating after what are believed to be human remains were discovered near Fort St. John.

According to the Kris Clark of the BC RCMP, the remains were reported to Fort St. John RCMP on June 8 after being found by a BC Hydro wildlife crew downstream from Old Fort.

Investigators say the BC Coroners Service has been brought in and is working alongside police to determine whether the remains are human and, if confirmed, to establish the identity of the individual.

At this stage, few details have been released, and police have not said how long the remains may have been in the area or whether foul play is suspected.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is being asked to contact the Fort St. John RCMP Serious Crime Unit at 250-787-8140.

RCMP say that their investigation is ongoing.
